The Rum Slinger is a rum subscription service where every month 3 rums are selected from varying rum producing regions and delivered direct to your home.

Created by Glasgow musician Kenneth-Noah Blair and the team behind The Rum Shack, the team required the design of their identity, bottle labels and information documents that would be contained within the subscription package.

Working with Creative Edge Developments, we also delivered a new website that was more tailored to customising customer orders, products and subscriptions.

Project approach

The Rum Slinger were looking for a simple and recognisable logo, something that could be used across their packaging and marketing materials. We researched old rum packaging, delivery crates and Caribbean postal stamps to come up the logo.

This simple style carried over to the bottle labels to display the rum ingredients and product details. Elements of each country of origin’s flags were used to further identify the rum.

We also created playful caricatures of The Rum Slinger founders that adds an element of fun to the branding.

Website update

The old Rum Slinger website was in need of various updates such as customisable subscription orders, promotions, upsell functionality etc in order to take the company to its next stage of development.

We implemented a full migration of the old website from Squarespace to a WooCommerce platform. This included customers, products, subscriptions and orders, all managed securely and with no breach of data.

The new site now has a more customisable subscription functionality, upsell options, and a new shop and gift box option.

We contacted Paul to help develop our branding over the first lockdown period. It was amazing to see him visually convert my ideas into something instantly appealing. His knowledge of consumer needs and interests within the industry helped tremendously in shaping the brand into what it is today, and we continue to work with him on developing the business.
